Jacob Soderberg: our first driver of the week

Jacob Soderberg purchased a virtual C-Class directly after the grand appearance in the middle of March. Since then he has driven countless laps on the Mercedes Benz test track and visited other islands with his car. Overall, Jacob is very satisfied:

“I like the C-class best in red. I also like the new sounds that were recently intigrated.”

Mercedes-Benz is looking for the “C-Class driver of the week”

Everyone who owns a virtual vehicle, as well as people who would like to, can hand in a photo of their avatar and their C-Class.
The best snaps will subsequently be presented in a gallery on Mercedes-Benz Island and on this Internet site. Also, the “C-Class driver of the week” will be selected from all the material you send. Closing date is 24th of August 2007.

It is left to you to decide which background is most suitable for your snap: maybe in front of your own virtual home, your favorite place in Second Life or on the Mercedes-Benz Island – whatever you decide, we are looking forward to receiving lots of photos!

Everything you sent will be accepted by Mercedes-Benz avatar, Mercedes Milestone. Simply send either an e-mail to secondlife@daimler.com or an instant message to Mercedes Milestone.

Premier of the new C class in Second Life

With great success Mercedes-Benz presented the virtual design of the new C class in Second Life. On March 16 2007 finally everything was ready. The event was duly celebrated with a premier party on Mercedes-Benz Island.

Right at the start of the evening at 8 pm (CET) many guests had already arrived to witness presentation of the new C class. Mercedes Milestone was moderator for the evening and provided short descriptions of the virtual edition of the C class. After the presentation many guests took the opportunity of going on a test run and trying out the configuration of the vehicle.

If you weren’t able to be part of the evening - no problem. You can watch the live cut of the evening on this website or on the video screen in the showroom of Mercedes-Benz Island.

Give the C class your own personal touch

The virtual edition of the C-Class includes a configurator that enables the paint and wheel rims of the vehicle to be changed individually. A total of eight different paint finishes can be selected. Additionally, three different wheel rims can be installed on the vehicle. All the changes made by the visitor using the configurator are immediately visible on the vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz offers an exclusive service to buyers of the virtual C-Class in the form of an update option on the vehicle. As soon as new features for the C-Class are available in Second Life, owners are automatically informed. The next time they log in to Second Life, the updates can be installed and used immediately, free of charge.

Simply try out the new C-Class on Mercedes-Benz Island. We are looking forward to your visit.

Test track on Mercedes-Benz Island open now

The new test track on Mercedes-Benz Island is now open to visitors to put the virtual C class through its paces. The design of the test track is similar to a German highway and has additional features.

The topography and landscape of the island cater for variable terrain. Mountains and valleys alternate between the straights. Test drivers can put their driving proficiency to the test under different weather conditions. There is a rain and snow simulation - in the second, the street is under a complete blanket of snow.

On the obstacle course, visitors can check their skills in handling the vehicle.
